Open air laboratory for archaeology. Using evidence from excavations of prehistoric and Roman sites, the aim is to find out what life really was like two thousand years ago. What we have discovered from the archaeology has enabled us to build ancient structures including a magnificent roundhouse and a hypocaust (heating) system in a Roman building. Other research programmes include the growing of crops, wood, ceramic and metal technology and a test area for archaeological surveying techniques. Hands-on activities for children.
