Dedicated to local history and fine decorative art. `The Story of Portsmouth' displays room settings showing life in Portsmouth from the 17thC to the 1950s using modern audiovisual techniques. The `Portsmouth at Play' exhibition looks at all aspects of leisure pursuits from the Victorian period to the 1970s. The museum has a fine and decorative art gallery and temporary exhibition gallery with regular changing exhibitions. The record office contains the official records of the City of Portsmouth from the 14thC and private and commercial records.
