One of only a few churches to be built during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. Originally thatched, the roof was removed in 1761, the walls were built higher and a gallery was added that ran the whole length of the nave on the north side of the church. Stone flags or slates replaced the thatch. A subsequent restoration in 1890 saw the removal of the gallery and the pews dating from 1761. The church contains the original font of 1580.
