The RSPB has two wonderful nature reserves in Weymouth, firstly Lodmoor, which is situated next to the sea life centre opposite the beach. This reserve is open all the time and offers fantastic views of the very special wildlife that visits it. The other reserve is Radipole Lake, which is only a 5-minute walk from Weymouth train station. This reserve has the only RSPB visitor centre in the southwest. Inside the centre you will find telescopes set up in front of our large viewing windows, have a look and see what you can find. There are lots of wildlife friendly goodies for sale, hot drinks and snacks, free book and poster offers and lots more! Take a walk up to our large hide and watch the wildlife, but don’t forget to come back to the centre and tell us what you have seen. Join us for a guided wildlife walk, which run throughout the year or come along to a family fun day in the summer. We have kids activity rucksacks available to hire on a refundable deposit. Allowing younger visitors the opportunity to use binoculars and to catch and study insects with a “Bug Box”! Along-side the wonderful variety of birds to be found at these RSPB nature reserves, there are lots of beautiful flowers, insects and many different animals, including deer, water voles, otters and grass snakes. Come and discover the natural world in the middle of town.
