First Class Guide to Britain

Join Britain's post men and women as they take you on an exclusive video tour around Britain's best kept secrets.

Britain's local "posties" get a unique street-eye-view of our famous landmarks every day while out delivering our letters. But more importantly they know about all the secret sights you could only discover from years of working in the area.

First Class Guide to London

Let post woman Nancy Doyle show you around some of London's hidden gems.

Nancy's worked for Royal Mail for over 19 years delivering post around central London. Postman's Park just behind St Paul's Cathedral is one of her favourite hideaways. This secret garden was the idea of the the painter George Frederick Watts who wanted to celebrate the heroism of people who are often forgotten. A wall in the park has 47 hand-painted tiles paying tribute to everyday people who sacrificed their lives helping others.

Old Billingsgate Fish Market is another of Nancy's favourite places offering some of the best views in the city as well as a river walk all the way to Greenwich. Leadenhall Market is also on her route and she loves the story of Tom the Goose. Apparently, in the 19th Century, market traders had 2 days to sort 34,000 geese. They managed it, but not without one escaping. Locals took pity on the goose and named him Tom. Tom went on to live for 38 years and is said to be buried in the market centre.
