Day-time in Bath

Longleat

Days Out

Bath’s appeal doesn’t end at the city boundary. It’s a superbly located touring centre for a whole host of top attractions. Many are within easy drive of the city. You will find some of England’s finest National Trust and English Heritage properties nearby – places like Lacock Abbey, the magnificent gardens and house at Stourhead and Farleigh Hungerford Castle.

Longleat House, home of Lord Bath, is known the world over for its remarkable Safari Park, but do take the time to explore the great house with its outstanding collection of priceless heirlooms. Wells, the smallest city in England, is overflowing with historic gems, including a majestic cathedral and the moated Bishop’s Palace, where the swans still ring the Palace Bell for food, as they have done for centuries. Moving further back in time, the ancient stone circles of Stonehenge appear to cast a spell not just over their surroundings, but also on everyone who visits them!
