Gatting around

The city is very compact with all main attractions within easy reach and walking distance. If you are driving there are a number of excellent great value park and ride sites just outside the city.

Cheap parking can be found in the pay and display within a 10-minute walk of the city centre – city centre car parks are slightly more expensive. Disabled street parking is permitted in the city centre. There is a hop on hop off City Sightseeing tour running daily from Easter to September.

For rail travellers, Chester Station has a free bus service that runs every 10 minutes during the daytime dropping off passengers within a stone’s throw of the Eastgate Clock.

National Express conveniently drops off passengers outside the Chester Visitor Centre.
Public buses stop just behind the Town Hall in the City Centre.

Excellent maps are available at both the Tourist Information Centre and the Chester Visitor Centre.
