Situated in the heart of Hull’s historic Old Town, The Museums Quarter will take you through 235 million years of history and culture on one site.

The star attraction is undoubtedly the award-winning Streetlife Museum, which brings 200 years of transport history to life. Next-door is the Hull & East Riding Museum with arguably the best displays of Roman mosaics outside of London.

Not be forgotten is Wilberforce House, birthplace of Hull’s most famous son William Wilberforce, slavery abolitionist and social reformer. Completing the Museums Quarter is the Arctic Corsair, a 1960’s sidewinder trawler.

Delve into Hull’s maritime industry at The Hull Maritime Museum with its whaling exhibits and coverage on the development of the docks, whilst the Spurn Lightship depicts the lonely existence of a lightship keeper.

Ever wondered what it was like to live in Victorian times? The Hands on History Museum is housed in the Old Grammar school dating from 1583 and will give you a fascinating glimpse into the life and times of this era.

The Ferens Art Gallery exhibits works from Old Masters and marine paintings to more modern pieces, whilst little ones should head for the Children’s Gallery, which encourages appreciation of the fine arts from a young age.
