Night-time in Hull
Get on the ale trail
Armed with a copy of Hull’s Ale trail, explore the historic hostelries and bars in the Old Town. Try Ye Olde White Harte, where you can settle in the oak panelled bar and try a pint of Yorkshire ale. Its famous Plotting Parlour was where it was decided to bar King Charles I from the town, an incident that may have sparked off the English Civil War in 1642. Or there’s Ye Olde Black Boy, reputedly haunted, and otherwise known for its range of rare ales and fruit wines.
Alternatively, head for the stylish café bars just north of the city centre. Along Princes Avenue you will find Pave Café Bar with its varied menu including tapas and a selection of fine wines, Belgian beers and continental coffees. Further down is Dukes, renowned for its laid-back atmosphere and excellent menu, with a fine selection of continental wines, coffees and beers.
