Day-time in Inverness
Festivals & Events
Variety is the key and many of Inverness’ events take a musical theme. These range from live traditional music performances in pubs and hotels to massed displays of bagpipes, drums and Highland dancing.
There are many festivals within the area including the massively popular Highland Festival - music, song, dance, theatre take place beside lochs, in castles and even afloat. Highland Archaeology Week in October has many events throughout the Highlands including walks, talks, children's activities, concerts and exhibitions.
Other events with a community theme include a variety of local galas - great get-togethers to which you will be warmly welcomed - the ever-popular agricultural shows and of course shinty matches – the area’s very own sport.
Set on the banks of the River Ness, Eden Court is the largest entertainment venue in the Highlands presenting a varied year-round programme that includes West End Musicals, Scottish drama and modern dance, and is one of the venues for the music and martial spectacular of the Inverness Tattoo. Eden Court is also where you can grab a coffee, drinks or a bite to eat, or enjoy its two art galleries showing work from local and professional Scottish artists.
