Night-time in Liverpool
Pubs & bars
From classy bars to traditional pubs, funky clubs to student haunts, Liverpool’s nightlife has a character all of its own.
If it’s sophistication and celebrity life you’re after then a stop at the Living Room on Victoria Street should be top of your list. With footballers and pop stars out to sample the marvellous array of beers and cocktails you too can become one of the beautiful people. Be sure to dress smartly so as to make it past the strict door policy.
Trying to impress the newest soccer hotshot can prove stressful. So if you’re after something a little more relaxing try the Jacaranda on Slater Street, which features cheap drinks and a friendly atmosphere.
For the traditional Liverpool purist Doctor Duncan’s (St John’s Lane) is one of the best exponents of real ale and authentic Scouse atmosphere. With its source of beer coming from the local Cain’s Brewery, you can even sample some official Capital of Culture 2008 ale.
A trip to Liverpool has to include the wonderful Albert Dock, which features many excellent bars such as the Pan American Club, Blue Bar and, from the creators of the nightclub of a similar name, Babycream.
