Gay scene

The 'gay village' is in the west end of the city, only a couple of minutes walk from the Central Station. This cosy little area houses a selection of pubs and clubs all within a stone's throw of each other and this past year has seen a number of new venues opening to the delight of visitors and locals alike.

There are some fabulous gay and lesbian events including the writing festival Proud Words and celebrations such as Pride on Tyne. Look out for the ever-popular Rock 'n' Doris cabaret nights at Live Theatre, with live bands, DJs and anything else the organisers can think of to entertain the punters.

The scene rivals anywhere else in the country, and the welcome is renowned, why not come and join the fun?
