Night-time in Portsmouth
Nightlife
If you like your night times lively and action-packed, Gunwharf Quays is the place to head to. There are more than 20 bars and restaurants, many with waterfront positions and great views over the Solent after dark. Choose from Indian, Chinese, Thai, Tex-Mex, Italian and a host of other exotic and continental cuisines – including the Loch Fyne Oyster and Seafood Bar, the newest ‘dine out’ delight. Entertainments at Gunwharf include a cinema multiplex, casino and comedy club – in fact something to suit most tastes.
Down at Gunwharf there’s another must-see after dark and that’s the Spinnaker Tower, which is even more striking at night time than during the day.
Crossing to the city centre, culture vultures can take in a play at one of Portsmouth’s two theatres – the New Theatre Royal or get down to Southsea for a performance at the Kings Theatre.
And in Southsea and Old Portsmouth there are plenty of restaurants and cosy, character pubs including the famous historic drinking houses at Spice Island, sharing with Gunwharf great views out onto the night time Solent.
On foot a sunset stroll along the Portsmouth seafront is a relaxing way to take in the city old and new.
