Port St Mary, or Purt Le Moirrey in Gaelic, is a busy fishing port and a centre for cruising and dingy racing. Charters are available for fishing trips with bait and tackle provided. The port is also popular with scuba divers, who will find all the services provided locally. The three pubs in the village provide the finest Manx ales and pub lunches. Walks to Cregneash Folk Village, the Chasms and the Sound are well within the range of the average walker, with stunning views and an abundance of birdlife to be seen from the coastal footpath especially at the Chasms and Sugarloaf Rock.
The village is well serviced by steam trains and buses, and is only a short distance away from Port Erin. For the family there is a safe sandy beach just below the main street or, further afield, rock pools for the more adventurous. For golfers Port St Mary has a nine-hole course and an excellent clubhouse/restaurant.
