Sport in Britain
A look at any of the newspapers will tell you that Britain is sports mad. People in every pub will talk about which formation the England football team should play or which bowlers should make up their cricket attack. Not to mention the anticipation for London 2012 Games.
In summer, the cricket season runs from April to September, with County, international and even village cricket at stadiums, grounds and village greens all over the country. Watch the biggest names in action at Lord's Cricket Ground, the 'home of cricket', or experience the game in true English style from the comfort of a traditional pub. For an insiders view, tours are available at grounds throughout the country.
Wimbledon runs for the last week of June and the first week of July - it's best to go early in the tournament and buy a ground pass, which gives you access to all the courts except Centre Court and Court One for a very low price. You'll even have change left to buy strawberries and cream.
If you're here in autumn, winter or spring, you can experience first-hand the passion Britons have for football. Join in as 60,000 fans sing their hearts out at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium, Celtic's ground Celtic Park, or even the new Wembley Stadium. You can even take a look behind the scenes of your favourite clubs - Stamford Bridge, home to Chelsea, Manchester United's Old Trafford Stadium and Liverpool's Anfield, all offer tours when there's not a game.
If all that doesn't get the adrenalin flowing, you can always try extreme mountain biking in Wales or surfing in Cornwall.
