Britain’s top cities for museums & galleries – Glasgow
Glasgow’s museum’s & galleries
Glasgow has a spirit and drive that embodies much of what
Scotland is today. It’s an easy city to get to and explore and is also well placed for you to explore nearby towns as well as easy access to the
Highlands and Islands country.
Thirteen museums in one city
If you want to really get to know Glasgow well then put on a comfortable pair of walking shoes and take to the streets. The city has amazing links with art and architecture, and its 13 museums means Glasgow has one of the richest collections in Europe. One of the first places to visit is the Glasgow School of Art (www.gsa.ac.uk) and also take time to visit the city’s famous Cathedral.
Clydebuilt
The River Clyde cuts its way through Glasgow. In recent years the city has witnessed a rebirth along the banks of the river. The Clydebuilt (www.scottishmaritimemuseum.org/renfrew.htm) is a dynamic new attraction devoted to the shipbuilding industry and offers an insight into Glasgow’s development. You could jump on the Clyde waterbus to get there and back to the city centre.
