Banksy versus Bristol Museum

Britain’s most infamous street artist is spraying up a storm this summer with a free exhibition at the Bristol Museum from June 13 to August 31.

The subversive artist known for his irreverent stencils and satirical style keeps his identity a closely guarded secret. A Bristol boy himself, he’s come home to display a selection of his madcap masterpieces in and around the more traditional pieces in the museum’s collection.

Cheeky, funny and thought-provoking, he delivers sometimes serious messages that poke fun at everything from the government to art and artists themselves. See a caged leopard-skin coat complete with waving tail, a miniature women pushing a trolley through the fossil collection and a mouse with a backpack hiding in a natural history case.

Banksy himself was among the crew setting up for the show, but his identity remained top secret leaving museum staff to guess at the mysterious man’s appearance. The exhibition is free and hugely popular, so get there early to avoid the queues!
