John Lennon Memorial, Scotland
John Lennon spent many childhood vacations at Durness, a remote seaside village on the north coast of Scotland - the most north westerly village on mainland Britain. A stone memorial commemorating John Lennon's links with the village was erected in 2002 and is set in beautiful gardens.

John Lennon and Paul McCartney's childhood homes
Mendips is the childhood home of John Lennon where he composed many of his early songs. The house evokes the time he spent here during his formative years. 20 Forthlin Road was the home of the McCartney family, where the Beatles met to rehearse and where they wrote many of their early songs, including 'Love Me Do' and 'I Saw Her Standing There'.
The National Trust operate combined tours to both properties, places are limited on each tour so advance booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Strawberry Field
Strawberry Field is a children's home run by the Salvation Army. John Lennon would play in the grounds of the home as a child. It is situated on Beaconsfield Road, Liverpool and of course inspired the song 'Strawberry Fields Forever'. The nearest train station is West Allerton. To get there from the centre of Liverpool, take a train from Liverpool Lime Street, they go every hour and take about ten minutes. The cost of a return is approximately £2.50. From the station turn right onto Booker Avenue. Keep walking for approximately 20 minutes. Cross over Menlove Avenue, onto Beaconsfield Road and Strawberry Field is on your right.
