O2 Wireless Festival Hyde Park 2008
Hosted by the largest events organisers in the world, Live Nation, the O2 Wireless Festival is back for its fourth year running in London's Hyde Park on 3-6 July 2008.
This huge event in the heart of the capital is billed as the coolest festival of the summer. Get ready for a dazzling line-up of home-grown and international superstars including none other than the Jigga Man himself Jay Z, our very own superstar DJ Fatboy Slim, man of the moment Mark Ronson and many more world-class acts.
The festival itself is 4 colossal shows back-to-back across 4 stages each day. Although there's no camping at O2 Wireless, it's totally got that festival vibe with market stalls, chill-out areas, acoustic performance space, street theatre and, of course, warm beer in cardboard cups.
As you can imagine, an event of this size takes some organising. Steve Homer from events giant Live Nation has been working furiously over the past 12 months to make sure this year's festival goes off with an almighty bang.
Steve clearly rates the line-up (and so he should), telling us, "many of the artists performing this year have gone out of their way make sure we're in their schedules and some are coming back again. Our event is all about the contemporary music scene and this is why we're attracting some of the best performers."
A perk of the job means Steve has to work closely with the artists and also gets to watch them perform from backstage. For mere mortals like us, he points out you don't need a VIP pass to see the acts up close, "I love seeing some of the big acts on the main stage, but my favourite place to check out some of the up-and-coming bands is at the Tuborg Stage. The stage is much smaller but you can get right up close to the bands which is always a great experience."
