Royal International Air Tattoo

Royal International Air Festival

This year’s event takes place on the 18th and 19th of July at RAF Fairford. It’s the biggest military air show in the world with over 300 aircraft taking to the skies in an extraordinary display of aerobatics.

Watch fast jets, giant transporters and historic aircraft from all over the world fly in a dizzying celebration of aviation over Gloucestershire. You’ll also be able to get up close to aircraft on the ground and meet the crews who fly these amazing machines. There’ll also be flight simulators, fast cars and a funfair for the kids.

The first Air Tattoo was staged in 1971 at North Weald airfield in Essex with just over 100 aircraft taking part. From these small beginnings the show became the International Air Tattoo in 1976, and recognition of its unique status was granted by Her Majesty The Queen in 1996, when the current Royal International Air Tattoo title was adopted in 1996.
