Shepperton
As the Thames Path gets closer to London, you’ll notice the number of riverside settlements increasing, but there’s still lots of beautiful scenery before you get into the city. The church square area of Shepperton next to the river is the original village, which was in the Domesday Book.
Teddington
On this stretch of the Thames Path, you come into London. On the way to Teddington, you’ll pass Hampton Court Palace, the home of Henry VIII. When you get into Teddington, you’ll see Teddington Lock, the longest lock on the River Thames at 200m. Teddington Lock was also the location for the Monty-Python fish-slapping dance sketch.
