When you return from a holiday in England it’s always great to take home a gift or memento that’s ‘made in England’ to show off to your friends. Particular areas of England are renowned for producing certain high-quality goods so if you can say that you actually bought it in the area it was made, it’s even more impressive.

Potteries

Take the Potteries for example, right at England’s heart around Stoke-on-Trent. Here there’s a great concentration of manufacturers of English bone china, much sought after around the world. Go on a tour and buy goods in the factory shops at companies like Wedgwood (www.wedgwood.com), Spode (www.spode.co.uk), Royal Doulton (www.royaldoulton.com) and Moorcroft (www.moorcroft.com).

Crystal and lace

Or head for ‘the Black Country’ of the West Midlands and creators of superb crystal – purchase some wonderful gifts from Royal Warrant Holders Royal Brierley for example. Over in Nottingham it’s lace that made the city famous and you’ll find a wonderful selection of delicate lace items in its shops and stores.
