Scottish Premier League
The Scots love their football, and for a country with a small population they have performed very well on the European and World stages. Celtic were the first British club to win the European Cup back in 1967 - a fact their supporters won't let you forget!
One of the best things about Scottish football is the rivalry between the clubs. The Old Firm derby between Celtic FC and Glasgow Rangers in particular is massive, and Edinburgh derby between Hibernian and Hearts is also big. The atmosphere at these games is as intense as you'll experience anywhere in the world.
If you're lucky enough to see one of these games live, you can feel the passion and the atmosphere grabbing you in the stomach. At the end of the game you'll be exhausted and, along with 60,000 others you'll either be on an extreme high or an extreme downer.
It's traditional in Scotland to head out for a drink after the game to discuss the result, the performance and the controversial moments. The Scottish people are great fun, so why not make a day of it?
The Scottish Premier League season runs from August until May, and it's possible to get tickets for most games. For more information visit the official Scottish Premier League website (www.scotprem.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Home/0,,10002,00.html).
