Overview
The Ridgeway National Trail (www.nationaltrail.co.uk/Ridgeway/) runs from the World Heritage Site of Avebury to Ivanhoe beacon. Much of this 85-mile (136 km) trail still follows the same path over the high ground used by travellers, herdsmen and solders since prehistoric times. People have used the Ridgeway for over 6,000 years and have left some great monuments for you to explore.

Once you leave Overton Hill, the Ridgeway (www.nationaltrail.co.uk/Ridgeway/) climbs gradually towards Barbury Castle Iron Age Fort. From here, you'll see fantastic views before descending to Ogbourne St George. This pretty village in the valley of the River Og is the perfect place to relax - walk along the banks of the river before enjoying a hearty meal at one of the village pubs.
