Gay Edinburgh & Glasgow
See & do
If you're a fan of art, architecture, the written word and live performance then you've come to the right place. Scotland hosts the world's largest arts festival every August in the nation’s capital - Edinburgh. Big names like Susan Sarandon, Christian Slater and Sean Penn have graced the numerous stages that dot the city, often featuring world premieres and exclusive work.
If your tastes run a bit more gay-centric, then wait a few months for Scotland's leading LGBT arts festival, Glasgay. November's chilly weather warms up immeasurably during the festivities with the city literally transformed into a rainbow-hued mecca featuring the finest in gay-focused entertainment.
If your trip doesn't hit during either of these periods - worry not! There's plenty of stuff to keep you occupied, including wonderful collections of art at the Museum of Scotland and Hunterian Art Gallery or a trip back in time to The Real Mary King's Close in Edinburgh - an actual street that was paved over in 1753 and is steeped in dark and ancient mystery.
Insider Info

Known for his melange of Celtic, Japanese and Art Nouveau design, his buildings remain as icons of the city.
