Peak & off-peak
The price of your Oyster, travel card or single cash fare may vary depending on the time of day. 'Peak' refers to the busiest part of the day and week. 'Off-peak' refers to all other times. Peak and off-peak times may vary depending what type of ticket you have.
1-day Travelcard
- Peak-time travelcards (bought before 09:30 Mondays-Fridays) can be used all day, on the day you buy it, and any journey that starts before 04:30 the following day.
- Off-peak travelcards (bought after 09:30 Mondays-Fridays) can be used from 09:30 Mondays-Fridays, all day on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays on the day you buy it, and any journey that starts before 04:30 the following day.
3-day Travelcard
- Peak-time travelcards can be used all day on the 3 days covered by the travelcard, and for any journey that starts before 04:30 on the day it expires.
- Off-peak travelcards can be used from 09:30 on the 3 days covered by the travelcard, and for any journey that starts before 04:30 on the day it expires.
Oyster cards
- On the underground, peak Oyster fares apply between 07:00 and 19:00 Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays).
- Off-peak fares apply at all other times.
Cash fares
- Cash fares are always one fixed price with no peak or off-peak time.
