Eurostar for mobility, hearing or visually impaired or disabled people
The Eurostar high-speed train service links Paris, Lille, Brussels with London and Ashford, and is a great way to travel to Britain. If you have mobility, hearing, visual or disabled needs, here's some information that may help you on your Eurostar journey to Britain.
Assistance
If you require assistance at any point during your Eurostar journey, go to the Eurostar ticket desk at the station and speak to a member of staff, who will make arrangements for you.
You can also ask a member of Eurostar staff to assist you with your baggage (e.g. loading it on/off the train).
Access
Eurostar trains have a limited number of wheelchair accessible seats, so make sure you let the booking staff know you plan to travel in your own wheelchair when booking in person or by telephone. If you're using the Eurostar website to book your ticket, click on the 'wheelchair user' link icon at the bottom of the screen.
A ramp will be available, and Eurostar staff will be on hand to assist you when you board the train and get off at the other end. Please arrive at the Eurostar terminal at least 45 minutes before departure time and let a member of staff know that you need assistance.
If you use a mobility scooter, Eurostar can carry it in their special luggage hold for no extra charge. In order for the scooter to access Eurostar's platforms and trains, it shouldn't exceed 100cm (1 metre) in width.
To make sure space is made available for your mobility scooter, you should advise Eurostar before you travel using the Eurodespatch telephone number +44 (0)8705 850 850.
Note: Scooters that use combustible fuel cannot be carried on any Eurostar service only those operated by electricity or battery power may be carried.
Guide dogs & assistance dogs
Guide dogs and assistance dogs are permitted on Eurostar services. If you need to make a booking to take your guide or assistance dog with you, please call the Eurostar contact centre on +44 (0)8705 186 186 or +44 (0)1233 617 575.
Accessible toilets
Accessible toilets are available on all Eurostar trains, and at Waterloo International Station.
Transport from the station
Public Transport
Eurostar's final destination in Britain is Waterloo International Station in the heart of London. The station is fully accessible and well served by public transport, with London buses and 4 tube lines running in and out of central London. Waterloo International also provides national rail train links all over the country.
For information on rail routes, visit our Rail routes & travel page.
Taxis
A taxi rank is situated next to the arrivals area at Waterloo International station. London's black taxis can take wheelchair passengers, and should provide a ramp designed to carry most manual and powered wheelchairs.
- Taxi drivers will assist both wheelchair and non-wheelchair users getting in and out of the car if it is safe to do so.
- Taxi drivers must accept guide dogs and are trained to recognise them, so guide dogs must have their harness and tags displayed.
