Eurotunnel for mobility, hearing or visually impaired or disabled people

If you want to bring your car to Britain, Eurotunnel is a great way to travel. The Eurotunnel shuttle train carries passengers and their vehicles between Calais and Folkestone in Kent through the Channel Tunnel.

Assistance

If you have particular mobility, hearing, visual or disabled needs and require assistance at any point during your Eurotunnel journey, inform the Eurotunnel booking staff when booking your ticket, and repeat this information at check-in.

Vehicles displaying a disabled badge are boarded at the front of the shuttle. This is for safety reasons, and to make access easier in the event of an emergency.

Accessibility

Eurotunnel is a particularly good way to travel to Britain if you are mobility impaired or disabled, as you can stay in the comfort of your vehicle.

Accessible toilets are provided on the shuttle. If you're a wheelchair user and you need to use the toilet, you can transfer to one of the shuttle's wheelchairs - specifically designed for this purpose.

The Passenger Terminal Buildings at both Calais and Folkestone are all on one level, with parking spaces nearby for cars displaying the disabled badge. Here, you'll find easy access to shops, the Food Village, toilets and low-level telephone booths.

Guide dogs

Guide dogs and assistance dogs are permitted on Eurotunnel shuttle services. If you're visually impaired or blind and travelling with a guide dog or assistance dog, you need to inform Eurotunnel staff when you book your ticket. Eurotunnel will book your dog into the system and ensure it complies with the regulations set out under the Pet Travel Scheme (PETS). Your dog will travel free.

Travelling from the Passenger Terminal Building

The UK terminal for the Eurotunnel Shuttle is near Folkestone in Kent on the southeast coast of England. The terminal is located at junction 11A on the M20 (A20) motorway which goes to London if you take it east and to Dover if you take it west.

Central London is about 75 miles from Folkestone and the journey by car takes about 1 hour 40 minutes depending on traffic. The port town of Dover and its famous 'White Cliffs' is less than 10 miles away if you want to do some sightseeing before you head into London or beyond.
